Tsunami, revisited

Looks like we're finally getting some tangible results in the tsunami department. It certainly is nice to see a few evacuation route signs around town, but to be honest, the effort is pretty pathetic. No directions, no instructions, not even an arrow pointing uphill! (Okay, here's the sign. Do we run straight down to the beach???)

This picture is at the entrance to Sekiu, and there is another one right in front of Olson's Resort. OK, you're a panicked tourist and you've just survived a 9.1 quake. You see the sign. Which way to go? Turn right? Turn left? It's pretty simple, really... make the wrong choice and you end up dead. (PS- the correct answer is "right," but do you see an arrow?)

Nonetheless, it's a refreshing sight and a good first step. Awareness is everything. If you didn't read my original post on the topic, feel free to peruse and comment. In the meantime, if the "big shake" occurs, the one and only thing to remember is GO UPHILL, and screw the old Beatles albums in your closet. If you're lucky, you have 45 minutes. And if you think I'm kicking this dog once too often, get used to it. I'm going to keep posting and keep posting and posting some more until this threat is the most-talked about subject in Sekiu. So there.

EDIT July 25: The arrows are up!
